NFL Week 9 Recap: Tebow Bests Palmer as Denver Broncos Beat Oakland Raiders

Tim Tebow is better than Carson Palmer. This season, at least.

The Raiders and Broncos decided to play Palmer and Tebow around the same time. Whether they knew it or not, they were heading for this matchup all along.

Today, Tebow had the all-around better game, getting the win in the process. His passing numbers were pretty low - 124 yards and two touchdowns on 10 of 21. But when his rushing numbers are added into the equation - 117 yards on 12 rushes - he had a damn good game. It almost looks like the Broncos have figured out how to use their highly controversial first-round pick. With Willis McGahee taking the bulk of the offensive workload, they don’t need to rely on Tebow’s arm too much. McGahee did it again this year, carrying the ball 20 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

Carson Palmer, though, didn’t have that luxury. Darren McFadden was left on the sideline with his foot injury. And although Michael Bush did a pretty decent job filling his shoes - 96 rushing yards and 33 through the air, with a receiving touchdown - Palmer had to be the man this week for the Raiders. He still showed some rust. Palmer did complete 19 of his 35 passes for 332 yards and three touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions.

So this week, Tebow gets away with another big win, and he was the better quarterback.

But that offensive gameplan in Denver is pretty questionable, and it relied on three Oakland turnovers in order to get the win. We’ll see how long Tebow can the Broncos can keep it up.

Party Report: MC Hammer, Rev Run and more!

Last week, Yoni Goldberg got a head start on the Halloween festivities by throwing his 7th annual Halloween bash presented by SVEDKA Vodka at NYC nightclub, Good Units. Jesse Marco and DJ Ruckus kicked off the evening behind the turntable treating partygoers, including Wynter Gordon and O'Neal McKnight to a special set, spinning a collaboration of today's hits. Giving the guys a break, Pete Wentz and his new band the Black Cards, rocked the crowd, performing several of their hit singles, including "Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Fame" and "Anujlie". Midway through their show, Pete hyped-up the crowd giving shout-outs over the mic to the best dressed partygoers. At around 12:30am, Rev  Run took the stage and treated the packed house to a showcase of his signature mixed hits behind the turntables.  Later that evening, guests were treated to a special surprise when chart-topper MC Hammer along with ten dancers, hopped on stage, where he sang fan favorite "Too Legit To Quit" sporting his signature dance moves.  The crowd continued to dance the night away, while sipping on SVEDKA Vodka's signature clementine cocktail, TRICK_BOT.








SVEDKA Vodka's Halloween Cocktail Recipe: 



TRICK_BOT:

2 parts SVEDKA Clementine Vodka

2 parts Orange Juice

Pinch of Ginger

Pinch of Cayenne

Fresh Lime Juice 

Fresh Cilantro Springs 

Splash of Grenadine



Muddle fresh cilantro in bottom of shaker.  Add ice and remaining ingredients (except grenadine) and shake for 10 seconds.  Strain into glass, add a splash of grenadine for color and garnish with candy corn on

The Packers and Chargers gave us the season’s biggest shoot-out, and managed to turn it into a close one near the end. It turned into the best quarterback matchups we’ve seen all year, which Aaron Rodgers won simply by avoiding mistakes.

Philip Rivers did, though, and it cost the Chargers the game. Alongside his 375 yards and four touchdowns, Rivers also threw three interceptions. Two of those went for Packers touchdowns, and the Chargers lost by seven points. Do the math.

The Chargers’ Vincent Jackson and the Packers’ Jordy Nelson made the most out of all of those passing opportunities. Nelson continued to develop his breakout season, with 105 yards and a touchdown on just five catches. Nelson has developed a talent for the big plays. Today against the Chargers was the fourth game this year in which Nelson has had a pass play go for 50 yards or more. His 105 yards were the most he’s had in a single game in 2011, bringing him to 570 yards on the season, just 12 yards within his career high for yards in a single season.

Jackson, meanwhile, took over the receiving game in the absence of Malcom Floyd, who sat out with a hip injury. Jackson caught three of Rodgers’ four touchdowns for 141 yards to make for his best performance since Week 2.

Rivers got plenty others involved, too. Antonio Gates caught eight passes for 96 yards and a touchdown, while Vincent Brown accounted for 79 yards on four receptions. Even Mike Tolbert caught four passes for an impressive 59 yards, adding to his rushing total of 83 yards and a touchdown.

At this point, Rodgers and the Packers look unbeatable. The Chargers, however, have a lot to figure out.

NFL Week 9 Recap: Cincinnati Bengals Young Roster Brings Win Streak to Five Games

Yeah, the Cincinnati Bengals really are 6-2. That moves them into a tie for the best record in the AFC at the mid-way point in the season. The question is, should we start to actually believe in them?

Not yet. Other than the win over Buffalo in Week 4, the Bengals haven’t beaten a winning team. The combined win/loss record of the teams in their last four wins since that Buffalo game, which have put them in a five-game win streak, is 8-24.

Not to hate, but the Bengals have a tough road ahead, playing Pittsburgh and Baltimore in three of their next four games. As much as I and everyone else loves watching the underdog succeed, this one doesn’t have it in them to make it through the next few weeks. In comparison to the weak teams they’ve played in their five-game win streak, the combined record in their next five opponents is 26-13.

The Bengals do have a lot to look forward to in the long term, though. In this game, the Bengals further established their young talents as legitimate, consistent players. Rookie quarterback Andy Dalton continued his hot start, throwing for three touchdowns and 217 yards on 22 completions in 39 attempts. He’s been running the offense like a veteran, targeting eight different receivers and completing passes to six. None benefited more than fellow rookie AJ Green, who grabbed seven passes for 83 yards. With this game, Dalton moves into the second half of the season with 1,479 yards, nine touchdowns, seven interceptions and a 62.4 completion percentage. Green, on the other hand, has racked up 516 yards and five touchdowns in 33 catches in his rookie season. Riding that to a 6-2 start to the season is better than anyone could have expected, and is a good indication of what this team should look like in the next few years. Anything more than that this year is just a bonus.

The Titans have a lot less to look forward to. Who would have thought a 64-yard game would be Chris Johnson’s second-best game on the season? Regardless, when his 46 receiving yards are added in, it’s a sign of hope in a season that hasn’t had any for Johnson. Other than that, though, the Titans have little else to look forward to.
