British dubstep-pop up-and-comer James Blake's self-titled debut album is out digitally next Tuesday, February 8, via Universal Republic in the U.S. (it'll drop a day before in the UK via Atlas/A&M). Right now, the whole album is streaming over at 3VOOR12; you can head here to take a listen.

Furthermore, Listen Before You Buy points out that a bonus track from the LP, the haunting, sparse "Tep and the Logic", is making the rounds.

2 Live Crew's Uncle Luke Running for Miami Mayor

"I think we can stimulate the economy with a tax on strippers."

Tweet 2 Live Crew's Uncle Luke Running for Miami Mayor

In his time on this planet, the rapper, party promoter, and former 2 Live Crew member Luther Campbell (otherwise known as Uncle Luke and Luke Skyywalker) has run record labels, established Southern rap as a commercial force, and taken on the Supreme Court. He's also one of the raunchiest rappers in the history of the genre. And now he's got a new goal on the horizon: He wants to be the next mayor of Miami-Dade County.

In an interview with the Miami New Times (where he also writes a column), Campbell talks about why he wants to be mayor: "Why is our government only serving one set of people? That's what is pushing me to run." He also announced some of his policies, including gated communities in inner-city neighborhoods, slashing the county budget, and raising taxes. He even proposes a tax on strippers, which doesn't sound like the Luke I know. ("Even though all my stripper friends are gonna be mad at me, I think we can stimulate the economy with a tax on strippers. They make all this money and don't pay taxes.") He also suggests that he can win Latino votes because he discovered Pitbull.

The Family Sign arrives in April

Tweet Atmosphere Announce New Album

On April 12, the Minneapolis indie-rap powerhouse Atmosphere will release their new album The Family Sign, via Rhymesayers. It's the duo's first proper album since 2008's When Life Give You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold, though they released the album-length double EP To All My Friends, Blood Makes the Blade Holy last year. In addition to MC Slug and producer Ant, the album also features contributions from keyboardist Erick Anderson and guitarist Nate Collis.

Pitchfork recently spoke with Slug about the new album; check for that interview early next week.

Later this month, Atmosphere will head out on a short tour of their home state. To see the dates and hear their new local-pride posse cut "Minnesota Nice", check here.

In 2006, the mysterious 70s French Italo-disco veteran Bernard Fevre, who records as Black Devil Disco Club, resurfaced with 28 Later, an album of glassy electronic tracks. On April 12, he'll return yet again when Lo releases the new Black Devil Disco Club album Circus, which features a ton of big-name collaborators. That's the cover art above.

As Rolling Stone points out, Reuters reports that the classic MTV cartoon "Beavis and Butt-Head" will return to the air later this year with new episodes. Rolling Stone speculates that series creator Mike Judge will once again voice both characters, but MTV hasn't revealed any further details about the new version of the show. If they come back as computer-generated polygons, somebody's getting slapped. Still, anyone who was a kid in the 90s will tell you that this is great news.

Right around the time the new year flipped over, M.I.A. released the Vicki Leekx mixtape, a continuous half hour of paranoid party anthems. And on her Twitter today, M.I.A. has posted some visual companions for the mixtape.

When posting that photo above, M.I.A. wrote in typical M.I.A. style, "vicki leekx home made wardrobe ! ill explain later! u likeeeee isss niccce , its cheeep u buuuy !!! i got coooloooouuurrrrr many many ..." I'd like to imagine that she's dressing as the character of Vicki Leekx, the robotic host that occasionally shows up during the mixtape.

M.I.A. also posted a panel of Vicki Leekx logos and a video for the first 10 minutes of the mix, which you can watch below. The video combines M.I.A.'s recent kaleidoscopic internet-overload video style with genuinely unnerving WikiLeaks-style footage of third-world cityscapes and shit blowing up.

Washington City Paper reports that Brendan Majewski, former bassist for the Washington, DC band outfit Quix*o*tic, committed suicide on January 20 in New York City. He was 37 years old. (Via the Daily Swarm.)

Majewski's musical career began in the late 1990s as a member of the Baltimore band Murder. While in that band, he met Mira Billotte (now of White Magic) at the Maryland Institute College of Art and formed Quix*o*tic in 1998 with Mira and her sister Christina (formerly of Bratmobile, Autoclave and Slant 6). The band combined elements of doo-wop and early R&B with spartan post-punk affectations, as demonstrated on their cover of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' 1961 single "What's So Good About Goodbye", which you can hear below.

The band self-released a single, "Heliotrope", as well as a full-length produced by Fugazi's Guy Picciotto, Night for Day, before Majewski left the band in 2001. (They later recruited Orthrelm's Mick Barr and signed to Kill Rock Stars.) Majewski later went on to form the metal-leaning NYC outfit Orphan. Check out audio and video of some of Majewski's work with Quix*o*tic and Orphan below.

Flying Lotus and an assortment of artists in his Brainfeeder label stable-- specifically Teebs, TOKiMONSTA, Matthew David, Samiyam, and Austin Peralta-- took over BBC Radio 1 DJ Benji B's show last night, as Some Kind of Awesome points out. FlyLo did not one, but two sets (one DJ and one live), and he delivered some unreleased material.

"Wax" and "Mcrr", the latter done live with Austin Peralta and a backing band, are both more interstitial cuts than straight bangers, but they also aren't really around anywhere else to check out, so... sweet, new FlyLo material! Flying Lotus and the live backing band also performed Cosmogramma's "Dance of the Pseudo Nymph" and Pattern + Grid World's "Clay".

Check out the whole set at the BBC's website; FlyLo's DJ set starts around 34 minutes in, while the live set kicks in around the 91 minute mark.

Bent pop provocateurs Xiu Xiu are as much an art project as a band, and now they've got the gallery show to prove it. February 4-26, the Raleigh, North Carolina art gallery Lump will host Xiu Xiu's show "I Hate This Suffocating Fucking Towne", a mixed-media exhibition. The group will host an opening reception February 4. According to the gallery's website, "all of the pieces are symbols of the wreck that is the mind and heart of Xiu Xiu."

Pieces in the show include stuffed animals that the band has collected on tour, a t-shirt written in the blood of band members, brass knuckles, plastic sex organs, felt art stolen from a preschool, and various items that were used in the packaging of the band's records. So it's basically an art show made up of things that your parents would not want to find in your room.

In further art-related Xiu Xiu news, frontman Jamie Stewart is teaming up with artist J. Morrison to launch a subscription series of art t-shirts. If you subscribe, you'll get a limited-edition handmade shirt every month for a year, with one subscription-only bonus shirt. Most of the shirts will also be available individually. The shirts "commemorate a figure who has influenced the artists," according to a press release. The first shirt in the series honors Freddie Mercury. You can subscribe, find the details, and see an image of the first shirt at the Xiu Xiu website.

As the frontman for Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, Genesis P-Orridge spent decades making his living through extreme behavior. But in 2000, he did something that forced anyone reading about it to squint their eyes, go back, and re-read what they'd just read: Genesis and his female companion Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge went through an intense series of appearance-altering operations so that they'd look as much like each other as possible. So Genesis got breast implants, lip implants, and all sorts of other reconstructive work done, and he now looks like what you see above. Then, in 2007, Lady Jaye died.

The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye is a new documentary film from director Marie Losier that chronicles the couple's life together, including those surgeries. The film will premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, and on February 19, Genesis and Tony Conrad will perform a violin concert together at Berlin's Haul Theater. More screenings are coming up in France and Spain; check here for the details. And below, see a trailer for the film.

Tweet The Streets Release Rapper-Heavy Mixtape

Computers and Blues is the new album from British talker/producer Mike Skinner, better known as the Streets; it arrives February 7 from 679/Atlantic. As a sort of companion piece, Skinner has also released a new mixtape, Cyberspace and Reds. The tape features a ton of Skinner's fellow British MCs, including grime-era favorites like Kano, Wiley, and Jammer.

When Skinner first released the tape, you had to a few absurd hoops to hear it. Downloading the tape meant downloading Skinner's iPhone application, scanning a barcode on his website, and then scanning another barcode on a can of tomato soup. But Skinner must've realized that nobody wants to do that much work. Now, you can stream the whole tape at Bln.kr. We've got the tracklist below.

Also, you can watch the video for Computers and Blues' "Going Through Hell" here.

Bethany Cosentino stars in "Buy Nothing Day" clip. Plus: yet another video

Tweet Watch: Go! Team Video Featuring Best Coast

On January 31, Memphis Industries will release Rolling Blackouts, the new album from the British pop-collage crew the Go! Team; you can listen to the album here. As that release date approaches, the band continues to crank out music videos at an alarming rate. Yesterday, we pointed you toward new videos for the tracks "Secretary Song" (with Deerhoof's Satomi Matsuzaki) and "Super Triangle". Today, we've got two more Go! Team videos for you.

First up, there's the clip for "Buy Nothing Day", the band's amped-up collaboration with Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino. Cosentino herself shows up in director James Slater's clip, which hammers us with vintage-looking camera effects like it was the acid trip sequence from a 60s biker movie. You can watch it below. And below that, we've also got the clip for "Rolling Blackouts", via mtvU. This one has a completely different vintage look; it's a mini-thriller built completely out of evocative black-and-white still photographs.

Continue Reading ?     Ducktails Raises Money to Release Panda Bear-Assisted "Killin' the Vibe" 12" Single Tweet Ducktails Raises Money to Release Panda Bear-Assisted

Ducktails is the lo-fi bedroom-pop solo project of Real Estate guitarist Matthew Mondanile, and his new album Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics is out now. The iTunes and vinyl versions of the album feature a version of the track "Killin' the Vibe" that features vocals from Animal Collective's Panda Bear, as well as contributions from Dent May and Woods' Jarvis Taveniere. You can hear that version of the song over here.

And now, as Chocolate Bobka points out, Mondanile's hoping to release the song as a single, but he's going to need help to do so.

In his effort to self-release the "Killin' the Vibe" 12", Mondanile is using the fundraising website Kickstarter to raise $3,500. (Full disclosure: Pitchfork publisher Chris Kaskie is an investor in Kickstarter.) On the page for his Kickstarter campaign, Mondanile writes that the proposed EP will include four songs: the Panda-assisted version of "Killin' the Vibe", a live version of the same song with the British band Spectrals, and two new Ducktails songs, "Sit Around With Ya" and "Couch Surfer". He's hoping to press up 500 to 1,000 copies of the EP.

For those that pledge, Mondanile offers goodies ranging from a 30-minute cassette of unreleased songs to a private live show as far away as Europe. Head over to the Kickstarter page to find all the details, and check below to see the Kickstarter video that Mondanile has made.

"It's sort of disappointing that it doesn't seem like a realistic possibility that any new music would be made. At this point, Stephen [Malkmus] does not write songs for Pavement anymore, or songs in the Pavement mindset. I think he considers that part of his juvenilia, which is his own prerogative."

Retrograde hardcore ragers OFF!, led by former Black Flag/Circle Jerks singer Keith Morris, released the BNM'ed collection First Four EPs last year. And last night, "Last Call" broadcast them playing at L.A.'s Club Lingerie. Since their songs are over in the blink of an eye, the show had enough time for them to play an entire four-song EP. Sebastien Grainger on the reunion of the dance-metal duo: "Why not say YES to playing the music we designed to be an undeniable source of power?"

Tweet Death From Above 1979 Release Statement

When the Coachella Festival announced its lineup last month, there was one big surprise that had nothing to do with font sizes on the poster: Canadian dance-metal duo Death From Above 1979, which broke up in 2006, were reuniting to play the festival. Both members had kept busy since the breakup-- bassist Jesse F. Keeler as half of the dance duo MSTRKRFT, and singer/drummer Sebastien Grainger as a solo artist. But the reunion is real, and the duo have reactivated their website to release a statement about it.

On the Death From Above website, Grainger writes that it's been 11 years since they first played together, and anything with the number 11 in it seems like a good thing to him. He also offers some hints that Coachella won't be the end of their reunion: "Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should not be denied. Together again, as was always the intention, as a collaboration. The collision of two different worlds. As this all takes shape, we will reveal it to you."

And indeed, they've already got a second reunion show booked. After they play Coachella on April 17, they'll headline the second weekend of the two-weekend Donaufestival, which goes down in Krems, Austria April 28-May 1 and May 5-7. The Donaufestival lineup also includes John Cale, Diplo, Laurie Anderson performing "Transitory Life", Owen Pallett, Wild Beasts, Mount Kimbie, the Books, Gonjasufi, Hudson Mohawke, Tim Hecker, Lydia Lunch, and others.

Below, read the full text of Grainger's statement and watch the video for Death From Above 1979's "Blood on Our Hands":

SOME WORDS

It's been 5 years since Death From Above 1979 played a show, 10 years since Jesse played me the first demos & 11 years since we sat in his parents basement and played so loud we knocked the china off the shelves upstairs. 11 seems to be a YES number for me. Though I am usually a pretty rational guy, if I have something on my mind and I see an 11 somewhere, I know I’m on the right path. It’s one of my last remaining superstitions. 2011 has a nice ring to it & if you’re so inclined, it may be the last year ever! So why not say YES? Why not say YES to Coachella? Why not say YES to playing the music we designed to be an undeniable source of power? Why not say YES to stirring up a writhing pit of sweaty humans? YES to riots! YES to heavy music! YES instead of maybe, and YES to make death your adviser and remind yourself always, that this is not a dress rehearsal. This is the big show.

Jesse and I have decided that what we can do together should not be denied.
Together again, as was always the intention, as a collaboration.
The collision of two different worlds.
As this all takes shape, we will reveal it to you.
All of it happening, as it always has, in our own way.
Thank you all for sharing in our excitement!

Yes.
