TheSource.com presents an eye-witness account of todays march for the commute of Troy Davis' death penalty, in Atlanta Georgia.


"Today I witnessed my first march for a cause ever. Of course, I’ve heard about it in history class in high school or in the movies about civil rights, but actually seeing it with my own eyes was just amazing. I was coming from work at the Underground Mall in Atlanta when I heard drums and people chanting. The first thing that came to mind was a marching band’s percussion section performing a cadence. As I looked down Peachtree Street, I saw a parade of people holding banners and signs and chanting: FREE TROY DAVIS! DEATH ROW? HELL NO!


I was in awe. The chants and reading the banners touched my heart. But what really got me was the beautiful mixture of color in the parade. I saw Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Rastafarians, children, college kids, older people, and even disabled people. We all know that blacks in America get the heaviest bigotry, but this black man had support from basically everyone from different walks of life tonight. They placed no judgment and they saw no color. All they saw was an innocent man, who is in need of justice.


I believe Troy Davis is an innocent man and should get the justice he deserves."
