Angeles LOS: screen the Screen Actors Guild Awards are arriving on Sunday and preparations are already underway in the Shrine Auditorium. Stage brings together, the list of presenters is close to being finished and, most importantly, seats are you drew.
"Depends on the size of the cast," producer Awards SAG Kathy Connell explained when MTV News asked how is determined the seating chart. "It also depends on if they were here last year." If the cast of TV was down front, probably will put them back even further this year. "We also try to be democratic between film and TV."
The ceremony will be held in an atmosphere of intimate dinner where both film and TV actors will be seated along with their peers. On the show, celebrities can eat food provided by the restoration of Lucques and sip in Dry Creek wines and champagne Taittinger while celebrating the work of others.
The Guild of people in the mold of the film along with casts of TV to allow everybody to visit and mingle between acts. For example, the first few tables, located in front of the headquarters have place cards for the cast of "True Grit" sitting beside the cast of "Joy". Move more towards the center of the room reveals the actors in "The Kids are All Right" sitting next to the boys of "30 Rock". With a quick look around the rest of the room shows the set of "the closer", sitting next to the "modern family," which are through the cast of "Hunting" and "Hot in Cleveland"
"Actors are actors." It doesn't matter that they are on TV. In fact, you know, actors in the film are very, very amateur to see on television and on the other hand, the actors "Connell, said."
The 17TH Annual SAG Awards will air live on TNT and TBS Sunday at 8 p.m. ET from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The best of us calls speculation. We feed on it. It's sort of like Devil's food cake or something sweet and terrifying harmful for our consumption. We know it is unhealthy for us, but we can't help, back to its flavor. More than often not speculation runs the music industry.
Day in and day, artists are drop cryptic references to everything involved: an LP, a tour, a reunion, a separation, or sometimes cooperation. Some remain true to their words (e.g. Jack White), others forget (as Dr. Dre). Fans do never, but. This is, why you have countless legions fanatics all raving about this and that, if this and that never anything, at any rate amounted to. But it's fun nonetheless. It's why people continue working on message boards or Wikipedia footnotes, all looking for more.
The truth is out there.
Ah, of course. The search for truth. Well, that's in this industry, keep truth, what in your hands, whether it sealed a ticket or one LP. Nothing is certain until it is a product. Take Guns N' Roses 2008 myth-turned up reality, Chinese democracy. For 14 years, the album went speculation to epic heights. Persons, the pirated shows you wasted on demos, discussed about lineup changes and you instead of vague on each quote that spit out Axl Rose. It was a deep fascination that couldn't and wouldn't die…, until that fateful Sunday morning in November, when fans strolled in best buy and ended their "pain" "Suffering". Although for some, it just started.
Most will agree that the journey up the album randomly exciting as the final result. What is hype and speculation does us. It's kind of hobby. No, it is. We pour into these myths in the industry who believe nothing but Fox Mulder to an alien conspiracy, all, because it is the pursuit of truth people.
Or, it's just too damn fun.
Having said that, we our list of the industry's most overdue albums rounded, those "we heard about" for years. Our next "Chinese democracy", if you will. Some of you may never see the light of the day - well, probably most really but if we not learned from our time with Mr. rose & co., maybe okay we with, that is.

Vin Du Select Qualitite is a series of limited-edition, vinyl-only acoustic guitar albums curated by Steve Lowenthal of Swingset Magazine and Plastic Records. The series has already included records from Emeralds' Mark McGuire and Codeine/Come/New Year axemaster Chris Brokaw. And early this year, avant-rock godfather and Sonic Youth member Thurston Moore will release his own entry in the series, 12 String Meditations for Jack Rose.
Moore's instrumental album is a tribute to Jack Rose, the steel string guitarist who died of a heart attack in 2009. The VDSQ series also has new records in the works from Six Parts Seven member Allen Karpinski and young Ohio player Matthew Mullane.
Moore has also been working on a Beck-produced solo album called Benediction for Matador. And he'll also play at a pair of forthcoming festivals. He's at the Tanned Tin Festival, which is happening right now in Castellon, Spain. And alongside wife and Sonic Youth bandmate Kim Gordon, he'll give a lecture and a performance at the Mission Creek Festival, which comes to Iowa City, Iowa March 28 - April 4.

Nicki Minaj's new video for "Moment 4 Life", her gooey-eyed Drake collaboration from Pink Friday, is top-shelf costume-party silliness on the level of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" video. The video tells a Cinderella story but cuts things off before things turn bad for Cinderella, so we get wigs and frilly dresses and lots of flirty stares from Drake without the humiliation of having to leave the party at midnight.
There's also a long skit at the beginning where Nicki, playing her own fairy godmother, has a British-accented conversation with herself. As Nicki's star continues to rise, she's going to keep getting big video budgets to indulge all her high-school drama-kid fantasies, and it's going to be fun. Drake should've been forced to wear a Prince Charming costume, though.

As previously reported, Chicago's Lollapalooza Festival is going international this year, coming to South America for the first time ever. Lollapalooza Chile comes to Santiago's O'Higgins Park April 2-3, and now the festival's organizers have announced the lineup.
Kanye West, Jane's Addiction, the Killers, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs top the bill. Every one of those acts has headlined Lollapalooza's Chicago festival. Further down the bill, the lineup includes the Flaming Lips, the National, Cat Power, Devendra Banhart, Empire of the Sun, the Drums, Cold War Kids, CSS, Boys Noize, Fischerspooner, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Datarock, Ghostland Observatory, Fatboy Slim, Toy Selektah, and Cypress Hill, among others.
The American Lollapalooza will once again return to Chicago's Grant Park August 5-7.

Notable album covers catch the eye, dribble it around a little, and then snap it back into place, forever skewed. They can be funny, gross, shocking, stunning, or just plain wrong. They can define artists. With Take Cover, we aim to track down the most striking new album covers taking up web space and vinyl bins and get the story behind them.

The photo on the cover of ambient electronic artist Tim Hecker's new album, Ravedeath, 1972, is pregnant with a sense of cartoon chaos and curiosity. It also invites many questions, such as: "Why the hell are those guys throwing a piano off that roof?!" So we got in touch with Hecker-- who conceived the cover himself-- to get to the bottom of it.

Pitchfork: Where did you find that picture?
Tim Hecker: I found on the Internet. When I finished this album and it was time to do the artwork, I became obsessed with digital garbage, like when the Kazakhstan government cracks down on piracy and there's pictures of 10 million DVDs and CDRs being pushed by bulldozers. I kept thinking of these mountains of digital garbage.
So while searching for stuff like that on Google I came across pictures of destroyed pianos. I discovered that MIT students started this ritual in the 70s where they throw a piano off a building. The photo is of the first piano drop. I licensed it from the MIT museum, printed it out, threw it up on the wall in my studio, and took a few photos of it with a film camera. Then I went to the crappy pharmacy and got them developed.
Pitchfork: Are there a lot of photos of this piano drop ritual?
TH: Over the years it's been documented but the photos are increasingly dull. The whole thing is probably more sanitized and sterilized and dignified now. Back then, it was probably a bunch of bros with some beers just going for it with one guy at the bottom pushing people away.

Pitchfork: How does the photo factor into your idea of digital garbage?
TH: In my mind, there's some connection between the computerized engineering that led to the codification of MP3s and music's denigration as an object and thus a viable means of economic survival. The connection is super vague but it's interesting to think about.
Pitchfork: Do you have any idea what the letters "IHTFP" on the piano mean?
TH: I'm not sure. Maybe something like, "I Hate The Fucking Police". [It's actually the unofficial motto of MIT and usually stands forI Hate This Place]. And then of course it says "ACME" on it-- I think that's more Looney Tunes-related.

Flying Lotus and an assortment of artists in his Brainfeeder label stable-- specifically Teebs, TOKiMONSTA, Matthew David, Samiyam, and Austin Peralta-- took over BBC Radio 1 DJ Benji B's show last night, as Some Kind of Awesome points out. FlyLo did not one, but two sets (one DJ and one live), and he delivered some unreleased material.
"Wax" and "Mcrr", the latter done live with Austin Peralta and a backing band, are both more interstitial cuts than straight bangers, but they also aren't really around anywhere else to check out, so... sweet, new FlyLo material! Flying Lotus and the live backing band also performed Cosmogramma's "Dance of the Pseudo Nymph" and Pattern + Grid World's "Clay".

"Saturday Night Live" cast member Fred Armisen used to play drums in Trenchmouth, and he's still deep in the indie universe, doing the TV show "Portlandia" with Carrie Brownstein, hanging with Joanna Newsom, and occasionally showing up on Pitchfork.tv. And now the Matablog has posted a video widget of Interpol playing live at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg in September, with Armisen introducing the songs. Check it out below.

Bent pop provocateurs Xiu Xiu are as much an art project as a band, and now they've got the gallery show to prove it. February 4-26, the Raleigh, North Carolina art gallery Lump will host Xiu Xiu's show "I Hate This Suffocating Fucking Towne", a mixed-media exhibition. The group will host an opening reception February 4. According to the gallery's website, "all of the pieces are symbols of the wreck that is the mind and heart of Xiu Xiu."
Pieces in the show include stuffed animals that the band has collected on tour, a t-shirt written in the blood of band members, brass knuckles, plastic sex organs, felt art stolen from a preschool, and various items that were used in the packaging of the band's records. So it's basically an art show made up of things that your parents would not want to find in your room.
In further art-related Xiu Xiu news, frontman Jamie Stewart is teaming up with artist J. Morrison to launch a subscription series of art t-shirts. If you subscribe, you'll get a limited-edition handmade shirt every month for a year, with one subscription-only bonus shirt. Most of the shirts will also be available individually. The shirts "commemorate a figure who has influenced the artists," according to a press release. The first shirt in the series honors Freddie Mercury. You can subscribe, find the details, and see an image of the first shirt at the Xiu Xiu website.

Continue Reading ? Documentary Chronicles Crazy Story of Throbbing Gristle's Genesis P-Orridge and His Wife Tweet
As the frontman for Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, Genesis P-Orridge spent decades making his living through extreme behavior. But in 2000, he did something that forced anyone reading about it to squint their eyes, go back, and re-read what they'd just read: Genesis and his female companion Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge went through an intense series of appearance-altering operations so that they'd look as much like each other as possible. So Genesis got breast implants, lip implants, and all sorts of other reconstructive work done, and he now looks like what you see above. Then, in 2007, Lady Jaye died.
The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye is a new documentary film from director Marie Losier that chronicles the couple's life together, including those surgeries. The film will premiere in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, and on February 19, Genesis and Tony Conrad will perform a violin concert together at Berlin's Haul Theater. Are immensely sad to hear that Milton Babbitt, maverick music American mathematicians, who died in Princeton this morning, at the age of four. There is much to say about his place in music history of the twentieth century; I have written extensively on these issues, and I am a comment in an upcoming issue of The New Yorker. But the day he died, I remembered, especially as a human being perfectly unique — a brilliant raconteur, a humorous wit, a man who seemed to bring an entire century in his mind steel-trap. (2001 Frank Oteri's interview on NewMusicBox gives a good indication of its talk). Over the years I've spent about three hours in his company, starting from when she visited my college radio station in 1988, and savor every moment, whether the topic was Schoenberg, Broadway, baseball or beers. I hope that doesn't look too irreverent to commemorate his death with the version of The Bad Plus-Simple changes (read about the background here), but I was told that he did get to see the video Babbitt and professed to enjoy. Goodbye, Milton! You will not be forgotten, and your music will thrive in unexpected ways.

There comes a time "Girl of Sleater-Kinney modern" where the music and the lyrics begin to coalesce into ways that rarely seen in popular music. But relies on a lyrical thread that builds from the opening of the song.
Melodic, sing-songy structure lyrics openly embraces its start simple sound. "My baby loves me/I'm so happy/happiness makes me a modern girl". Carrie Brownstein and Diana Schutz the Narrator seems to openly allegro, his joy is based on acceptance of her lover, a happiness considered essential to its identity. You buy a television that says "brings me closer to the world," but this disconnect from the world – "" approach to it looking through another degree of separation – is the lyrical theme that unites the verses.
A constant is that "my baby loves me", but it does not prevent you hungry ("hunger makes me a modern girl") and buy a ring that she claims has a hole the size of the whole world ". But this misconception of the size of the world comes from within the self-focused view of a culture where romantic love defines a woman. The world is the size of the screen of a television. Or a doughnut hole – an element implicitly denied our Narrator in a world-oriented image where the type and size of the body of a woman. So, a constant state of self-imposed starvation also defines its modernity, a point driven home by the media, the lens through which she views the world.
At this point in the song, the music starts to deform. When the battery type, levels of huge audio push red, distorting narrator's voice and music in a veil of static. This is the noise of the modern world, self-destructive that hinder the narrator's voice? Is the narrator's interior monologue, facing implosion, shouting in slowly building the social frustration over the limitations imposed on you?
"My baby loves me/I'm so angry/anger me a modern girl". Anger becomes an integral part of modern ' girl ': anger at the reductivist world its permission; anger by definition is limited to cars available to you; anger towards the achievement of its inability to buy something important ("I took my money/I couldn't buy nothin'."), the power is allowed at regular intervals. And it is here that the theme of the song meets in its closing lines. "My whole life was like a photo of a sunny day." The themes of separation, of perception rather than reality, are crashing together in this one image: an image – cold and static – a life that should be anything but. words/j. neas

We know it is unhealthy for us, but we can't help, back to its flavor.
