Cardinals Force A Game 7 Of The World Series

 


The Rangers thought they were ready to claim their first World Series title tonight. Turns out they were not, as they failed not once but twice to put Game 6 against the St. Louis Cardinals away. Fast forwarding to inning 9, a sea of red looked on as the Cardinals with two men on base faced a 2-2 count, knocked a triple to right scoring 2. At 7-7 the World Series added to the excitement heading to extra innings. Josh Hamilton found perfect timing with one out and a man on first going long for his first home run of the post season. Tony La Russa and the Cardinals dugout looked on with the air being sucked out of any chance of a Game 7.


The Rangers faced similar fate after walking Pujols in the 10th inning up by a run. One strike and they again gave up a tying run thus lengthening Game 6. Lance Berkman who was often critical of his World Series opponent delivered a tying run to center field moving our attention to an 11th inning. The Cardinals already had one bit of history on their side to help the momentum, becoming the first team in post season history to score in the 8th ,9th and 10th innings before wrapping it up with a walk off solo homerun to force a Game 7 via David Freese.


Innings 1-7 seemed to bore even the best of baseball fans, yet innings 8 and on offered a thrilling game of America's pass-time in the thick of a championship duel. Cardinals vs. Rangers game 7 tomorrow night.
