The week in Singles: new music from Yuck, Datarock and Wiz Khalifa

1. Yuck — "coconut Bible"
what: The new track from growing Yuck alt-rockers. It is the b-side to their single "Holing Out", but it won't be on their upcoming self-titled LP, which is due via Fat Possum on February 15th.
Going Deeper: I was surprised that the North London outfit did not function on our most anticipated record of the 2011 list because of their excellent Weakend EP 2010 accumulated enough the buzz. Sonically, they remind me of the 90 ° s alt-rock that I grew up listening to with plenty of hooks and the right amount of fuzz and reverb. Certainly not the only one anxiously awaiting their Sonic Youth-influenced full-length.
Where: download it free from their site.

Yuck – coconut from the Bible very surprising

2. Wiz Khalifa — "Roll Up"
what:The second single from major label debut the charismatic Pittsburgh native 's, Rolling Papers, due out on March 29th.
Going Deeper: Stories like this are indicative of a real bugbear of mine. Recently, there were so many talented MCs (Nicki Minaj is the most recent example of this) that build intriguing CVs on mixtapes and through appearances, but once you have signed a significant agreement and release that first studio album, they get bogged down by this type of cookie cutter was over-produced, dross that stifles their unique voice. Honestly, I think the mainstream audience hip-hop would embrace individuality these artists, but songs like this show that industry is not ready for us to decide for ourselves. You can't blame the artist, because if they showed creativity and originality in their unofficial versions, you'd think that label pressure had something to do with its distinct stylistic changes. Looks like ol' Wiz is going to be another artist (Lil ' Wayne) that eliminates all his works best on mixtapes.

3. James Pants — "Halo"
what: The first single from the Jazz drummer-turned-crooner-bizzaro, James Pants. The second track, is released from his forthcoming debut album primai LP, which was released on 19th April by Stones Throw.
Going Deeper: Serving a tasty pop cracked slab (crack pop?), the music of the pants is difficult to describe in a few sentences. Basically, take a strong dose of fuzz, throw a little melodic stylings of loungy/doo-doo-wop, add approximately 6,000 more layers on top and you'll have a decent idea of how to do the dance of Mr. pants. I have no idea where he is going to go with his LP, but certainly are anxious to find out. If you're a big fan of Mike Patton, foreign material, this might be right up your alley.
Where: Download it from GvB.
James Pants – only two

4. ghosts — "no ghost"
what: The first single of Swedish veterinary seventh (can you believe it?) LP, invisible, which is caused by Century Media in March.
Going Deeper: Is frankly stunning treat that was more than 15 years as At the Gates unleashed their game changes swansong Slaughter of the Soul on a metal unsuspecting public. The album, as the band remains one of the best and most influential in the history of the genre and all those years later, the incomparable Björler brothers are still at it, riff that I diligently crafting as melodic as are devastating.
Where: This option is not available for download yet.

5. Lonely dear — "lonely Blues"
The
one thing: standout tracks from the excellent free compilation that was recently published by something in construction.
going deeper: while he remains criminally underrated, Swedish folk singer Emil Svanängen (aka Lonely dear) has been cranking out delicate pieces for almost ten years. He wasn't on the radar screens of most people, until the Sub Pop republished his clever and brilliant 2005 LP Lonely, Noir. Since then, has constructed a decent sized here stateside, though he still really deserves to be more popular than he is now.
Where:The track, together with the mixtape, is available to the underlying stream. I also recommend checking out the new track of memory tapes, as well as Favorites from excellent memoryhouse and guards.
Love SIC disco from something InConstruction

6. Datarock — "Catcher in the Rye"
what: The bouncy new single by Norwegian pop dance the weirdos. The single will be released on March 21, with a USB drive that contains an amazing amount of material, including all of their music videos, over 100 tracks and about 1,500 live photos of the group.
Going Deeper:If you're a big fan of DataRock, Christmas fucking is coming early this year. Dubbed "the most extravagant one in history", the group is releasing an incredible amount of mind of material for their fans. We can only hope that more bands take inspiration from this bold idea. Bra gjort Datarock!
Where: listen to the song and learn more about the individual from their site.

7. Pacific Division — "anti-freeze"
what: The track to bring out upcoming mixtape dress SoCal Mania.
Going Deeper: A victim of the delayed release date perpetual feared that has plagued many young hip hop artists, three elements have early Palmdale was threatening to unleash their debut LP grown Kid syndrome for nearly three years. This sub bass, 808 creeper Wizard doesn't pack much swag as some of their previous material, but it's worth it just to listen to the pronunciation of the BeYoung of dinero. C'mon man. You're from LA, can do better.
Where: Download the player.

8. Cass McCombs — "County Line"
What
: the first single from end of wit, the next release of sixth the Bay Area native. Is set to be released by Domino on 12 April.
Going Deeper: If you're a regular Crawdaddy! Reader, you'll know that most, if not all of us, hold jobs of McCombs very high here. In general, I try not to dwell on the songs that we have already covered, but I thought it was worth giving this track sleepy, subtly gorgeous another mention for any who may have missed. Is a beautiful trail which highlights of McCombs voice pretty flexible and songwriting, emotional. What a talent.
Where:Right here on Crawdaddy!.
